Jim Loran

Owner

A charismatic leader and fluid thinker, Jim has provided superior leadership to small companies and to large enterprises during critical transition phases. From strategy to budget to implementation and metrics, he has both built and re-engineered regional, national and international field sales teams. His focus on driving sales and profitability is grounded in a pragmatic understanding of the competitive edge delivered by strong relationships – externally with customers; internally with staff.

Jim holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Toronto and has owned managed and consulted businesses across the following industries: Consumer Packaged Goods, Publishing, Automotive-thermoplastic composites, Consulting, Pharmaceutical, Health Care, Food –Service and Alternative Energy- Solar.

Dr. A. José Lança, MD, PhD

Consultant

Dr. José Lança is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacology in the Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto since 1995. He holds an MD degree (University of Coimbra, Portugal, 1977), and in 1991 graduated with a PhD in Neurosciences (University of Coimbra, Portugal / University of Toronto, Canada), with highest distinction. He is also a knowledgeable and motivated professional with medical background and extensive research and teaching experience in pharmacological sciences.

Dr. Lança is published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, is the single author of six chapters in Medical Pharmacology Textbooks, and has been invited to speak at several international meetings. In addition, he has worked with several multinational vitamin companies; providing expert opinion and research on key consumer brands. He also provides expert opinion on pharmacological principles relevant to drug development and clinical practice, as well as data analysis relevant to developing marketing strategies.

Carl Fine, C.A.

Consultant

With over 25 years’ experience as a senior executive for large retail chains, Carl brings a high degree of strategic direction, and the ability to identify and thoroughly implement process re-engineering systems, as well as cost savings and cash recovery systems.

Carl was a founding member of Indigo Books and Music and held the position of VP of Finance. He was responsible for the implementation of their financial systems, which included liaising with the Presidents of all major Canadian publishing houses.

As a Certified Chartered Accountant, Carl has experience in negotiating treasury and banking agreements, annual budgeting, corporate tax filings and the implementation of financial system planning. In addition, he worked on the real estate committee, sat on the board of Directors and spearheaded Indigo.ca, which included the creation of the fulfilment centre, and the establishment of a robust customer database.

Carl has the unique ability of simplifying complex and difficult financial concepts, presenting them in a professional and non-threatening manner to non-financial managers and executives.
